HAWTHORNE, Calif. — October 31, 2026. Drivers parking in selected commercial areas of Hawthorne should check posted pay-station rules: the city’s paid parking pilot program began enforcement July 6, 2026, with different rates for street spaces and municipal lots.
According to the official Citywide Parking Study, curbside parking along the participating stretches of Hawthorne Boulevard costs $1 per hour, with a two-hour maximum, and is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Different fees for median spaces and lots
For designated Hawthorne Boulevard median parking, the 129th/130th Street lot and the Jim Thorpe Park lot near Prairie Avenue and 139th Street, the city lists the first hour free, then $0.75 per hour for up to five hours, with a $3 daily maximum and a $55 monthly permit option. Overnight parking is generally prohibited in these locations, subject to already-permitted vehicles in the 129th/130th Street lot.
Where the pilot operates
The street segments include portions of Hawthorne Boulevard between El Segundo Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue, as well as Imperial Highway and 120th Street. The city describes this as a limited pilot, not a new paid-parking rule for every residential street in Hawthorne.
Parking rules may vary by marked space, temporary closure and permit category; posted signs control. The city is also studying potential residential-permit and commercial-corridor parking policies, but those future ideas should not be treated as already in effect.
