HAWTHORNE, Calif. — October 31, 2026. Hawthorne residents have been watching a major renovation of Eucalyptus Park, a neighborhood recreation area at 12100 South Inglewood Avenue.
The city held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 28, 2026, describing planned new playground equipment, a sports field, water fountains, barbecue grills and related improvements. Its groundbreaking summary indicated a target completion in the fall of 2026.
Accessibility and recreation
The city’s capital improvement listing identifies an ADA accessibility component and a mini soccer field, along with playground replacement. The project also includes work at Ramona Park, but these are distinct neighborhood locations.
Eucalyptus Park is described in the city’s park directory as a 6.2-acre public area with a quarter-mile walking path, picnic areas, basketball courts and other amenities. A directory may list facilities that are temporarily unavailable during construction.
Is everything open now?
Not confirmed by the April groundbreaking notice. A planned fall completion date is not evidence of final inspection, opening or current access to each attraction. Before arranging a party or sports event, confirm the status of particular equipment and areas with the city.
Hawthorne Parks and Recreation lists 310-349-1640 for park-permit inquiries. A permit is required for certain organized activities and is subject to availability and park rules.
